The US government has supported India's request to extradite Tahawwur Rana, a suspect in the 2008 Mumbai attacks. US Solicitor General, Elizabeth Prelogar, filed a response on Monday urging the Supreme Court to reject Rana’s petition, which seeks to block the extradition. Rana, a Canadian citizen of Pakistani origin, had appealed the decision in lower courts, including the US Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, which ruled in August that the extradition could proceed under the US-India Extradition Treaty. Rana’s final legal attempt to avoid extradition was denied by the Solicitor General, who argued that India’s charges against him were not fully covered in the US case.
