SpiceJet Chairman and Managing Director Ajay Singh announced plans to restart discussions with US-based aircraft manufacturer Boeing to resume deliveries of B737 Max planes. SpiceJet had in 2017 ordered 205 aircraft, which include 100 B737 Max jets.

Deliveries were paused after the airline faced financial challenges with only 13 planes received so far. Singh also stated that approximately 30 grounded planes would return to service within 12-15 months. The airline, which has been making losses for six years, raised ₹3,000 crore ($360 million) through a qualified institutional placement and reported a first-quarter profit of ₹158.1 crore ($19 million) for 2024-25.
