Reliance Power's subsidiary, Reliance NU Suntech Private Ltd, has won a 930 MW solar energy contract and a 465 MW/1860 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) project from the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI). The project, which includes the second largest deployment of grid storage batteries in Asia, will be developed on a build-own-operate basis. The power will be sold to multiple distribution companies in India through a 25-year power purchase agreement with SECI.
