The third week of the Winter Session of Parliament resumes today, with three important bills expected to be passed. The Railways (Amendment) Bill, 2024, Disaster Management (Amendment) Bill, 2024, and Banking Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2024 are up for consideration.

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will move the Banking Laws Bill in the Rajya Sabha (Upper House), aiming to amend the Reserve Bank of India Act, 1934, and the Banking Regulation Act. The bill also seeks to alter the tenure of directors of cooperative banks and expand provisions for settling unclaimed amounts.

In the Lok Sabha (Lower House), the Railways Bill and the Disaster Management Bill are listed for consideration. Minister of Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw will present the Railways Bill, while Home Minister Amit Shah will introduce the Disaster Management Bill.
