As a response to the criticism of appeasing her electorate, Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra carried a tote bag on Tuesday, protesting atrocities against minorities in Bangladesh during a demonstration at Parliament.

On Monday, Priyanka's display of a bag bearing Palestine symbols in Parliament triggered backlash from the Bharatiya Janata Party, with critics calling it a “bag of appeasement,” while Congress spokesperson Shama Mohamed defended the gesture as a symbol of solidarity and justice. After her brother Rahul Gandhi vacated the Lok Sabha seat, Priyanka was recently elected from Wayanad, which is a Muslim-dominated Parliamentary constituency.
