The Winter Session of Parliament resumed today after a disrupted first week caused by Opposition protests over allegations against the Adani group and the Manipur situation. INDIA bloc leaders, chaired by Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, have decided to meet Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla to request his intervention for smoother proceedings.

In the Rajya Sabha, Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar rejected 20 notices under Rule 267 seeking discussions on corruption allegations against the Adani group, violence in Uttar Pradesh’s Sambhal district, law and order issues in Manipur, increasing crimes in Delhi, the Ajmer dargah incident in Rajasthan, “atrocities against Hindus” in Bangladesh, and a special package for residents of Wayanad. Despite protests from Opposition members, Dhankhar stood firm on the agenda, adjourning the session until noon.

In the Lok Sabha, sloganeering by Opposition MPs continued during the Question Hour, while Minister of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Jayant Chaudhary addressed queries on Centres of Excellence for Skill Development. Speaker Birla adjourned the House until 12 p.m. amidst the disruptions.
