Noel Tata, half-brother of the late Ratan Tata, has been unanimously elected chairman of Tata Trusts after the passing of the industrialist on 9 October at the age of 86. Already a key trustee of the Sir Dorabji Tata Trust and the Sir Ratan Tata Trust, Noel Tata will now lead the trusts, which hold a controlling stake in Tata Sons, the Tata Group’s primary holding company.

In his first statement as chairman, Noel Tata expressed gratitude and pledged to uphold the legacy of Ratan Tata and the Tata Group's founders. He emphasised the trusts' ongoing commitment to philanthropic and developmental initiatives.
