Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal has flagged non-tariff barriers affecting domestic industry in the European Union (EU) markets, urging action during a virtual meeting with European Commissioner for Trade and Economic Security Maros Sefcovic. The discussion also covered progress on the proposed Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between the two sides. Both sides agreed to work towards a balanced, equitable, and mutually beneficial FTA. After nine rounds of negotiations, the FTA talks require strategic political guidance to finalise a commercially significant and mutually beneficial agreement, the Ministry of Commerce said in a statement.
