According to The Hindu Business Line, the Union government is considering giving clearance for the construction of greenfield airports at Parandur, Tamil Nadu; Kota, Rajasthan; and Puri, Odisha. These three airports have reached the second stage of the Centre’s Greenfield Airports (GFA) policy for getting ‘in-principle’ approval to start the land acquisition for construction and other activities. Proposed greenfield airports will serve as Chennai's second facility, connect Puri and Bhubaneswar, and replace Kota's existing airport.
