Delhi had eight lakh new voters added to the electoral just in the last one year. According to the data shared by the Chief Electoral Officer's (CEO) office, around five lakh more applications are still pending with the CEO's office. The Election Commission announced the Delhi Assembly poll dates would be revealed at 2pm on Tuesday.

Going by the "final" electoral roll released by the CEO's office on Monday, there are now 1.55 crore voters in the city, up from 1.47 crore in one year. Though it is called final, the list is not final yet.

The CEO's office has kept the process of voter registration open for a few more days. All applications submitted 10 days before the deadline for nominations will be processed and the names added to the supplementary electoral roll.

The announcement of the number of new voters has fuelled the feud between the Aam Aadmi Party and the BJP with the former accusing the latter of a "voter scam" in the New Delhi constituency.

The Election Commission is expected to announce the Delhi election dates in a day or two. The nomination process will commence immediately.
