The Defence Ministry signed two contracts worth ₹2,867 crore to strengthen the Indian Navy’s underwater capabilities.

The ₹1,990 crore-contract with Mumbai-based Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Ltd is expected to enhance endurance for conventional submarines and install Air Independent Propulsion Plug for the Defence Research and Development Organisation's (DRDO) Kaveri-class submarine.

The ₹877 contract with France’s Naval Group is for the integration of torpedoes to strengthen the firepower of Kaveri-class submarines.
