In the Rajya Sabha (Upper House), the controversy over Sonia Gandhi’s alleged links to the Soros Foundation dominated the proceedings, leading to frequent adjournments as both sides engaged in sloganeering. Despite attempts by the Chairman to move forward with the agenda, the House was repeatedly disrupted.

Similarly, in the Lok Sabha (Lower House), Speaker Om Birla faced continued protests, with Opposition members demanding a discussion on the allegations.

On Sunday, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) accused former Congress president Sonia Gandhi of links to an organisation funded by the George Soros Foundation. In a series of posts on X, the BJP claimed that Gandhi, as co-president of the Forum of the Democratic Leaders in Asia Pacific (FDL-AP) Foundation, is associated with a group that has supported Kashmir’s religious secessionist movement.

The party also highlighted ties between Congress leaders and Soros, pointing to a photo of Rahul Gandhi with Salil Shetty, Vice President of the Soros-backed Open Society Foundations.

During a press conference, BJP's National Spokesperson, Dr Sudhanshu Trivedi, stated, "the Forum of Democratic Leaders in Asia-Pacific has received financial support from the George Soros Foundation. Soros has openly stated that he invested $1 billion to destabilise the Modi government. The Opposition is avoiding a discussion on this matter."

In response, Opposition leaders rejected the BJP's claims. Congress MP Karti Chidambaram dismissed the accusations as "dark fantasies," urging that such conspiracy theories be confined to the "dark web." Samajwadi Party MP Ram Gopal Yadav labelled the allegations as routine tactics by the BJP, stating they had never been substantiated. RJD MP Manoj Jha suggested that the BJP should investigate the matter rather than pursue conspiracy theories.
