BJP Probes Absence of MPs During One-Nation-One Election Vote in Lower House

The Bharatiya Janata Party is investigating why nearly 20 of its MPs were absent for the vote on the one-nation-one election legislation in the Lok Sabha (Lower House) on Tuesday. Some Union Ministers and MPs had pre-scheduled engagements. On Monday, the BJP and its allies issued a three-line whip for MPs to attend the session. Following the vote, the Constitution (129 Amendment) Bill and the Union Territories (Amendment) Bill were forwarded to a Joint Parliamentary Committee.
