Andhra Pradesh CM Chandrababu Naidu has announced, that the state government will not take any action regarding the Adani bribery charges until concrete proof is obtained and will await the outcome of the case in the US.
This announcement comes a month after the state government promised action over US allegations of bribery involving the Adani Group and the previous state government of YS Jaganmohan Reddy.
"We can't back out of contracts unless concrete proof is available. We will have to pay a stiff penalty." - Chandrababu Naidu
The Economic Times reported that Naidu's dilemma over taking action originates from the Opposition's backlash, alleging a nexus between the ruling government and the group's chairman, Gautam Adani. Taking action and cancelling the contract would translate into Naidu joining forces with the Opposition, they added.
