Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday launched the Bharatpol portal, allowing law enforcement agencies in India to seek Interpol assistance directly. Previously limited to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), the new system will improve coordination between central, state, and union territory police for issuing Red Corner Notices and other alerts against fugitives.
The portal replaces outdated communication methods like letters and faxes, speeding up international cooperation on transnational crimes such as cybercrime, human trafficking, and financial fraud. Shah called Bharatpol a step towards bridging gaps in cross-border investigations, making international policing more accessible to Indian agencies.
